VOLK, Don
Age 84, of Brookville, passed away March 30, 2018 at home following an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ardella Volk, his parents George & Lenore Volk, and brother, Connie Volk. Don graduated from Trotwood-Madison Schools in 1951 and joined the Army shortly after school. Don served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was an active member of VFW Post 3288. He is a lifetime member of the NRA. In his life Don became adept at woodworking and could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, football, and was a big Civil War “buff.” Most friends and family will remember him though for his uncanny ability to tell jokes and recall stories. Don was truly loved by his family and friends and will be missed. Don is survived by daughter, Cheri (Jim) Simon; granddaughter, Laura (JoeJoe) Staggs; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn & Bryce Staggs, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Tuesday, April 3rd at the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE, with burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Monday, April 2nd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Brookville Park Board, to be used to purchase a tree at Golden Gate Park in Don’s memory.
