JOHNSON, Gilford L. "Gil"

Age 92, of Brookville, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Brookhaven Retirement Community following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and his first wife, Hillis. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving 33 months in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired after 40 years with International Harvester UAW in Ft. Wayne. He attended Community United Methodist Church in Brookville, was a member of the Historical Society and was a lifetime member of both the VFW & DAV. Gil is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Slyder) Johnson, sons, Randal (Shirley) Johnson & Richard Johnson; sister, Marge Keintz; step-daughters, Ruth Bradley & Kathryn George; 2 devoted step-grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. During their retirement years, Gil & Dorothy enjoyed traveling by RV, cruising and their winters in Florida. Local services will be held 7 PM Tuesday, June 6 at the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE, with viewing from 5 PM until service time.
