SCHOLZ, James Arthur “Jim”
Age 85, of Brookville, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Van Crest Nursing Home in Eaton, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Geneva and by brothers, Charles & Robert Scholz. He graduated from Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana and University of Cincinnati with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired after 35 years from Production Control Units Inc. in Dayton. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Brookville. He served his country as a Captain in the Ohio National Guard and was commander of the Greenville Post when the new armory was built. He also served his community on the Perry Township and Brookville Boards of Zoning Appeals, and as president of the Brookville Band Parents. He was a 34-year member of Brookville Optimists International, and served as President and Treasurer. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine; daughters Janet (Douglas) Burkett, Julie (Jeffrey) Tate, and Jean (Steven) Mellum; grandchildren Katherine and Carole Burkett, Christopher and Phillip Tate, and Andrea (Jesse) Greene and Brenna Mellum; brother-in-law John (Patricia) Kotila; niece, Sherri Pittman; nephew, Steven Scholz; cousin, Margaret Sears. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, August 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 25 W. Westbrook Rd. Brookville, with visitation at the church Friday from 10 AM until service time.
