Age 82, of Brookville, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louella (Staugler) Doss and Kermit Weaver; step-son, David Burke and great-grandson, Jordan Hederson. He served in the U.S. Army and spent 30 months in Germany in the military police. He was a charter member of the Brookville VFW post #3288, president of the Brookville Chamber of Commerce, served as Vice Mayor, and was a founder of the Brookville Corvette Club. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Nation Knife Collector’s Association, Case (knife) Collector’s Club, Ohio Gun Collectors Association, Collector’s Club International, Ltd. (Campbell’s memorabilia collectors), and the Winchester Arms Collector’s Association. John has owned and operated Weaver’s Auto Parts and Towing in Brookville since 1970. His son Mark has managed the business since John retired in 2015. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Penny (Weis); step-sons, Steven (Sue) Burke of Arcanum, Michael (Karen) Burke of Arcanum, Mark Weaver (Fiancé Dawn) of Brookville, and Daniel (Martha) Weaver of Orange, TX; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE. Funeral service, officiated by Roger Herrig, will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 13, at the funeral home with interment to follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Dayton.
