GONZALEZ, Arturo

Age 87, of Lebanon, Ohio, passed away on June 22, 2023. Arturo was born in Valparaiso, Chile. Being a highly-talented university student in Chile specializing in English, he was granted several teaching scholarships for large universities in the US, including The University of North Carolina (Asheville), and The University of Texas (Austin) in order to finish his degree. By the time he finished and started raising a family with Lucia Gonzalez, Chile underwent political turmoil and coupled with the ability to get green card residency at the time, he chose to bring his family to live in the USA, being the first generation to settle here in 1969. He was a loving and gentle person, who enjoyed traveling throughout the world, and going back to Chile to see friends and family. He loved social gatherings and getting to know people. He was extremely proud of his family and their accomplishments. He loved photography, soccer and tennis. At a young age, he developed a love of reading which made him well versed in literary knowledge. He had a passion for movies as well, which made him a huge source of knowledge about the fine arts and humanities. He is survived by his wife, Lucia Gonzalez; sons, Pablo (Melissa) Gonzalez, Alvaro (Ana Maria) Gonzalez, and grandchildren, Cristina, Alejandro, and Sergio. A tribute to the life of Arturo Gonzalez: “A Celebration of Life” will be held at his son’s (Pablo) residence where he loved to walk the property, gaze at the scenery and take pictures. Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at 2:00 PM 3802 S. Waynesville Road Morrow, OH 45152. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
