RHOADES, David Michael

Age 62, of Brookville, passed away on August 21, 2022 following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by son Michael Rhoades, parents John and Sara Rhoades, and sister Brenda Rhoades Elie. Survived by sons Jacob Rhoades, Johnathan Rhoades, sister Karen Rhoades, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was a member of The Ridge Church where he was a Sunday School teacher. David was a loving Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his boys, his family, friends and sports. His biggest joy was spending time with his 3 sons. Either coaching them, taking them to the drive-in, taking them boating, playing ball with them in the back yard or taking them on nice vacations. David also loved to entertain his family and friends. He loved to make people laugh. David was a good athlete. After excelling in football and baseball in high school, he loved playing softball. He played softball with the same guys for over 20 years. Please have his old softball Buddies stand up. He worked for Emery Worldwide from 1983 to 1990. He then worked for General Motors from 1995 to 2008. He went on to achieve an Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He then worked as a Paraprofessional before he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in February of 2019. David was never the same after his son Michael passed away in 2010. David said "One third of me died when Michael passed away" David had many friends and was once asked "What is your secret to your success with people?" He replied "I treat people the same way I like to be treated." Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26th at GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th at The Ridge Church.
