EARLY, James R.

Age 82, of Brookville, entered into the Lord’s presence with his family by his side on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Olivia Early.

Jim grew up in Pyrmont, Ohio attending the Pyrmont schoolhouse and graduated from Brookville High School, class of ’58. After graduating, he enjoyed years of adventure before beginning a new one in 1970 when Jim married the love of his life, Lynn. He retired from General Motors, after 38 years, where he worked as a machine repairman. He will always be known by his classmates and coworkers as a beloved and loyal friend.

Born and raised at Pyrmont Church, Jim gave his life to Christ at a young age and spent his life serving there as a faithful member. His love for God and the church spilled over into every area of his life. He enjoyed ministering at Chrysalis in Piqua for many years and participating in many domestic and international mission trips.

Jim’s greatest joy in life was investing in the lives of those he loved, especially his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. He is most known for his faithfulness, gentleness, kindness and intentionality in showing Christ’s love to others.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn Early; children, Andy (Mandy) Early, and Chris (Amy) Early; grandchildren, Olivia (Nate) Scott, Jacob, Selah, Isaiah, Hannah, Aliyah, Josiah, Rinnah, and Levi; brother, Tom (Sandy) Early of Homer, AK; sister, Jan (Jim) Weckesser of Wooster, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT ROAD, BROOKVILLE, OH 45309. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25th at Pyrmont Church of God with interment to follow in Pyrmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pyrmont Church of God.
