STEIN, John Michael “Mike”

Age 75, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder & Anna Stein; siblings, J.W. Stein, of Hopkinsville, KY, Margaret Boyd, of Hopkinsville, KY, Virginia Sue Cotseres, of Chicago, IL, and George Stein, of Dayton. Mike was born in Hopkinsville, KY and moved to Dayton when he was 16. He served his country in the Army for two years during the Vietnam War. Mike met his loving wife Dixie when they were in night school together and they recently celebrated their 50 year anniversary. He loved the Lord, had a deep faith, and was a founder of the Covenant at Sugar Grove. He retired after working 37 years for the United States Postal Service. Mike was extremely creative and loved to work with his hands. He restored historic houses and classic cars. He had a deep interest in music and liked to collect model cars, and miniature collectables. He also designed and built detailed miniature houses. Mike loved his family and spent the Christmas season setting up train tracks and scenery in the basement for all the kids to enjoy. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Lynn; their three sons, John Curtis Stein, of Columbus, OH, Bryan Matthew (Amy Gretchen) Stein, of Troy, OH and Chad Elliott (Kate Ambler) Stein, of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Haeden Michael Stein, Liam Brodrick Stein, Beckett Rylo Stein, Ella Lillian Stein, and Hadley Lynn Stein; siblings, Kitty Riccobono, of Columbus, OH, Christine Morris, of Hopkinsville, KY, Betty Jo Hudson, of Hopkinsville, KY, David Stein, of FL, Tim Stein, of FL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, at The Covenant at Sugar Grove  7875 Kessler Frederick Rd, Tipp City, OH 45371. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Elizabeth's New Life Center, 2201 N Main St, Dayton, OH 45405. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Church, with interment to follow in Dayton Memorial Park.
