RAMSEY, Larry “James Laurence”
84, of Brookville, Ohio, died peacefully on November 13, at Hospice of Dayton. Raised in Licking County, Ohio, Larry graduated from Alexandria High School. A 1960 graduate of The Ohio State School of Agriculture, Larry used his degree as a Vocational Agriculture teacher, retiring in 1990 after a 30 year career at Centerburg High School, Twin Valley South High School and Brookville High School. In addition to teaching, he was a dedicated advisor to the various local chapters of the Future Farmers of America, guiding many to state and national FFA honors. Post graduation, he served the Army in Military Intelligence for three years. Following retirement from teaching, Larry worked as Program Administrator for Preble County Soil & Water Conservation District for 10 years. He was an active member of Brookville First United Methodist Church, including serving on the Board of Trustees for more than 30 years. Larry was a skilled carpenter and mechanic who was always working on projects with and for his family and friends while also enjoying many outdoor activities including camping, snowmobiling, and golf. Preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Margaret, he is survived by Gloria (Geesling), wife of nearly 60 years; sister, Sarah Ramsey of Alexandria, Ohio; daughter, Teri (Norman) Slick of Dublin, Ohio; son, Ted (Lisa); granddaughter, Jordan of Kinsman, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, at First United Methodist Church, Brookville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Brookville First United Methodist Church of Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements in care of Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, Brookville.
