Linda Keighley Obituary

Linda Kay (Rock) Keighley, 70, of Brookville, OH, peacefully passed away at her home on July 27, 2020.

Linda was born August 2, 1949, in Marion, IN, to the late James and Anna Rock. She had 5 siblings in all, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Linda attended Nappanee High School in Indiana and obtained her beautician license after graduation. In 1968, Linda married John Szanto II and after a few years moved to the Dayton, OH, area.

Linda enjoyed traveling and worked in the travel industry for most of her life, eventually retiring from American Airlines. After retirement, Linda opened her own business, Lyn’s Ballooney Bin, providing balloon decorations for events. She was also an active member of VFW Post 3288 Ladies Auxiliary.

Linda loved the holidays, from decorating campsites for Halloween to hosting annual Gingerbread House parties at her home. She would start making gingerbread houses the day after Thanksgiving and invite all to come to her home to celebrate enjoy each other’s company while decorating gingerbread houses.

Besides her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister Beverly Spry. Linda will be remembered as one who cared about the happiness of others above her own. She will be missed by family and all those who called her friend.

Linda is survived by sons John (Rebecca) Szanto III and Rick (Robin) Szanto; siblings James (Sheryl) Rock, Jerry (Carol) Rock, Millie (the late Kenneth) Kobb, and Anna (Brian) Huff. Linda is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
