Lucretia Myers Obituary
Lucretia Fontella Myers passed away surrounded by her family on 12 June, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1942, to Paul Henry Myers and Treva Bell Longenecker. She attended school in Verona, Ohio graduating in 1960. She married her fellow classmate Larry Stine on July 2, 1960. Larry and Lucretia had one daughter, Lisa Rae Stine. In the early 1960’s she began working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a file clerk in the U.S. Civil Service. She rose rapidly through the ranks of the Civil Service and entered the Senior Executive Service in 1980. In 1983 she attended the Senior Executive Fellows Program at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 1988 she was awarded the rank of Distinguished Executive in the Senior Executive Service by President Ronald Reagan. In 1992 she became the United States’ representative to the International Civil Service Commission of the United Nations, a position she held until 2013. The Commission establishes the pay and benefits for the employees of the United Nations and a number of other international organizations. Lucretia was an accomplished artist and seamstress. In retirement she was an award-winning woodcarver with awards from the Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Festival and several county fairs. Ms. Myers is survived by her daughter, Lisa Stine and son-in-law Bernie Flores of Lakeland, Florida, sister Twila Stidham of Washington, North Carolina, and her husband of 46 years, Gary Gillespie. A graveside service will be held at 11am on 21 June 2025 at Verona Cemetery in Verona, Ohio
