Lyle Clegg Obituary

Lyle Clegg Obituary

At the age of 70, Lyle was welcomed into heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1954, to Rusty and Sue Clegg.

He was preceded in death by his father Rusty, mother Sue, and sisters Sharon and Kay. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Becky; his children Matt, Bryan (Lauren), and Jeff; his brother Charlie (Linda); his grandchildren Johnny and Caleb; his great-grandchild Indie; as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Lyle was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to caring for his family and supporting the Brookville community where he lived. Known for his kindness, he was always ready with a word of encouragement to share with others.

Music was close to Lyle’s heart. He loved playing his guitar and bringing Elvis classics to life for everyone around him, so much so that in high school he was nicknamed “Elvis.” He first met the love of his life, Becky, when he was playing in the band Stockade. Later he played in Garment of Praise, a worship band that recorded an album and toured local area churches.

Lyle also had a passion for coaching soccer. He coached his sons and helped found the Brookville Sting, the community’s first select soccer team. He went on to coach high school soccer for over a decade, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes.

He served his community faithfully as an active member of the Brookville Church of the Brethren, where he was a deacon, and the Salem Church of God. Professionally, he worked as a CNC machinist at the same Brookville shop, originally known as Mosier, for 37 years.

Those who knew Lyle will also remember his sweet tooth: his love for ice cream, Oreos, and especially his wife’s cherry pie, which he once compared to divine grace. He enjoyed quiet walks in nature with his wife and lived his life with a deep love for the Lord, always striving to reflect Christ’s humility and love in all that he did.

Lyle’s life was a testimony of faith, family, and devotion. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14th at The Brookville Church of the Brethren.
