Age 84, of West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, passed away on October 29, 2025. She is survived by her spouse and best friend of 66 years, Jack Hulett; her daughter Kim (Tom) Ruffing; her grandchildren Katie Ruffing and John Ruffing; sister Suevella Lawson, and many extended family members who called her "Granny". She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Clarence Sams and brother, Dexter Sams. 

Othella graduated from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, with a BA in accounting and an MA in education. She taught for many years at Twin Valley North High School in Lewisburg, Ohio, specializing in business subjects and English. She was a devoted wife and mother - working hard on the small farms they owned, leading a Girl Scout Troop and playing the organ at church. She was an extraordinary woman - intelligent and filled with warmth and love for her family, friends and students. She loved helping people, traveling, telling stories, playing cards and cooking for family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8th at Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home. Interment services to follow in Verona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires (Massachusetts), a Hospice organization or church of your choice.
