Phillip "Sonny" Hillard

Age 88, of Brookville, passed away on September 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Hillard.

Phillip served his county as a member of the U.S. Army. While he was in high school, he received varsity letters for four sports in a single year. He is also a member of the BHS sports hall of fame. He enjoyed boating, bowling, riding motorcycles and driving Donna and their dog around the countryside. After retiring from GM, he spent his time driving cars around for local dealers.

He is survived by children, Rodney (Leigh Ann) Hillard, Rebecca (Jim) Ort; step-children, Crystal (Joe) Hatmaker, Jeffrey (Cindy) Stemen; grandchildren, Hailey (Tony), Gabrielle (Austin), James, Sydney, Jack, Brandi (Alex), Skyler, Zachary (Erica), Spencer (Samantha), Ryan (Kandyce), Brittany (Tanner), Emily, Austin; great-grandchildren, Hinzlee, Alesana, Carly, Gabriella, Scarlett, Stella, Levi, Lily, Chandler and River; sister, Sherry (Jim) Wysong; sister-n-law and brother-n-law, Dale and Darlene Mendenhall.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday with interment services to follow in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
