Ralph Robert Weiss, Jr.

Ralph Robert Weiss Jr., age 80, of Union, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph Robert Sr. and Pauline (Underwood) Weiss, and brother Ronald Frank Weiss.

In 1962 he married Joyce Ann Sanders. They enjoyed a long marriage full of happiness, adventures and a love for life. They enjoyed road trips to the beaches of Florida, headed west to California and canoed the rivers of Missouri.

Ralph decided to start his own business in 1970. For over 40 years, Ralph Weiss Painting Service served the residences and businesses throughout the Miami Valley.

He loved the outdoors. He was an avid camper and loved hiking in Wayne National Forest, as well as being a member of the Outdoor Club. He loved to garden and work in his yard. In retirement he took up carpentry, building tables, chairs, stools and his famous walnut back scratchers. He was also a car enthusiast, showing his 1978 Triumph at British Car Days and participating in the Gathering of Corvettes with his vibrant yellow 'Vette.

One of Ralph's greatest joys was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joyce; daughter Ruth (Bill) Welbaum of Englewood; son Ralph Anthony (Suzanne) Weiss of Arcanum; granddaughter Allison Gallagher of Columbus; and cat Smokie. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Glaze; brothers Dan and John (Charlotte) Weiss; many nieces and nephews and their families.

A private service will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville, Ohio.
