Richard Rhoads Obituary



Age 91, of Brookville, went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara (Swab) Rhoads; sister, Betty Wyan; daughters, Terri (Allen) Easterday, Nancy Watt and Lynda Stephens; 6 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Dixie High School in New Lebanon, OH in 1950, Dick began his career apprenticeship in the tool and die trade at NCR in Dayton, OH. After 18 years with NCR, he worked 8 years at Universal Tool, and then retired from GM in 1998 after 22 years. He served his country for 8 years in the US Naval Reserve. He was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Union, OH.

His lifetime hobby was building and flying model airplanes. He was a member of the Spirit of America Show Team for several years and currently a member of his local flying club (F.A.S.T.). He was interested in all aspects of aviation. At one time, he had been a private pilot and part-owner of a Cessna 150. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, pedaling around town on his recumbent bike, maintaining his home, and relaxing on the back swing.

Visitation and services will all be held at GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE, OH 45309. Visitation will be held 5-8 pm Fri. Dec. 1, and services, conducted by Pastor Dan Kincer, will be held 10 am Sat. Dec. 2.
