HERGENRATHER, Robert N.
Age 77, formerly of Phillipsburg, entered his heavenly home, Tuesday, April 22, 2003 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was a retired employee of Delco Products, having worked there for 40 years. He was a veteran Marine who served aboard the USS Missouri during WWII and witnessed the historic moments of the signing of the peace terms with Japan on September 2, 1945, He was a member of the Leisure Time Seniors of the Dayton Jewish Center. Bob loved the Lord & served him faithfully for many years. He was a member of Brookville Grace Brethren Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Ruby Hergenrather, brother Harold; sisters Betty Kratzer & Patricia Richardson & infant grandchild Jennifer Baker. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth, daughter Linda & husband Galen Melling; son Gary; son & wife Glen & Diane Hergenrather; grandchildren Brian & wife Angie Baker, Amy & husband Michael Schweinberg, Carla & Mark Hergenrather; great-grandchildren Eric, Cassie, Annessa, Colin, & yet to be born Benjamin; brothers, Ted (Carolyn), Jack (Joyce), James (Connie); sisters Syrepta Elleman; Mary C. Courtney, & Nancy (Oscar) Toepfer; many nieces, nephews, & dear friends, including Richard (Billie) Baker. A special thank you goes to Dr. Bane & the staff at Samaritan North & to Hospice of Dayton. God bless all of you. Services will be held, Mon. April 28 at 10am at the Brookville Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Henry Mallon officiating. Interment Bethel Cemetery, Phillipsburg. Friends may call the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, Brookville from 2-4pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton OH 45420.
