Robert "Bob" Miller Obituary

Robert "Bob" Miller Obituary

Age 70, of Brookville, Ohio, passed away in his residence after a
9-month battle with a Glioblastoma on June 1st, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 8, 1955, in Dayton, Ohio, Bob was the son of Dale and Mary Miller.
He grew up in Trotwood, Ohio, and graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School.
Bob married Beverly Yost in 1980, and together they raised three children: Matthew, Philip,
and Benjamin.

Bob was self-taught in nearly everything he did. He began his career in maintenance at
Rike’s/Lazarus (where he and Bev met), staying for 18 years. That time gave him the
experience and knowledge to start his own general contracting business, which he owned
and operated for the remainder of his life. In 2001, he became a Property Manager for
Household Services, overseeing a prominent estate in the area. He officially retired in
2021, but for anyone who knew Bob, he never really stopped working.

Bob volunteered as a firefighter in Trotwood, Ohio, for 20 years. This experience helped him
become a key member of the Brookville C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team).
He was also a devoted member of Brookville Community United Methodist Church. For
many years, he was active in the Brookville Baseball Club and Brookville Athletic Boosters.
His lifelong commitment to the Boy Scouts of America spanned over 60 years, during which
he earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Bob spent countless hours at Scout camps in
the Dayton area, lending his expertise in many ways. He was awarded the Silver Beaver
Award for his exceptional service and volunteer work. Bob’s passion for Scouting translated
to his three sons, who all went on to achieve the Eagle Scout rank.

Later in life, Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors — camping, traveling, attending his
grandchildren’s sporting events, and staying busy with a seemingly endless list of projects,
even after retirement. Above all, Bob cherished time spent with his loving wife Bev, family,
and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Yost) Miller; his sons: Matthew (Sara Shaw)
Miller, Philip (Ryan Anderson) Miller, and Benjamin (Ashley) Miller; and his beloved
grandchildren: Ethan Miller, Lexie Shoop, and Lucas Shoop. He is also survived by his
mother, Mary (Lewis) Miller; his sister, Beverly (Chuck) Smith; sister-in-law, Susan Yost-
Poley; brothers-in-law, Mark Yost and John (Chris) Yost; as well as countless nieces,
nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Miller; his in-laws, Ken and Pat Yost; and his
brother, Dane Miller.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at
Mulberry & Main (130 Main St., Brookville, OH 45309).
