Sandra Kay (Woods) Denlinger Obituary
With great sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Sandra Kay Denlinger on Monday, March 24, 2025. She was born on May 17, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, and spent most of her life in Brookville, Ohio, before moving to Brooksville, Florida, in November of 2024, to be close to her daughter and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Imogene Woods; her brothers, John Woods—who was taken far too soon—and Tim Woods; her especially close Aunt Jewel and Uncle Bill Woods; as well as many dear family members and friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Denlinger; her loving daughter, Gwendolyn (Mitchell) Jessie; and her grandsons, Lukas, Dylan, and Adam, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Larry) Alexander; her niece and nephew, Nicole Eger and Matt Alexander; her special niece, Christina (Brandon) Wood, and family; her cherished friend, Shirley Ryback; and many extended family and friends.
A proud graduate of Brookville High School, Class of 1967, she went on to earn her nursing degree from Miami Valley School of Nursing in 1970. This began a dedicated 43-year career in surgical nursing, where she served with skill and compassion at Miami Valley Hospital, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Hospital, and the Dayton VA Hospital, from which she retired. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond her career, as she also served as a major in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm.
She was a woman of deep faith and a member of Crestview Baptist Church. She found joy in volunteering, baking, gardening, and took great pride in her flowers. But above all, she was a woman of kindness, forgiveness, generosity, love, and unwavering compassion. She gave freely to those around her and was a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her loss is immeasurable, but so is the love she left behind. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
