WOGOMAN, Sylvia
Age 88, of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Brookville, passed away in MN on Monday, April 19, 2021. She was born on May 26, 1932 on a farm on Crawford Rd. outside Brookville, before Dr. Miller could arrive. She grew up with her mother, Ida at the end of Western Avenue enjoying the playmates in that happy neighborhood. School days held precious memories. Most of all were those with classmates she loved at good ‘ole BHS as president of their Senior Class. A job at Allman’s Restaurant and Bakery kept her busy twelve hours every Saturday. She proudly carried the school flag for the marching band. These were good years. Providence Lutheran Church, which was founded by her ancestors in 1825, had a vital spiritual influence on her life of faith. She graduated from Capital University in Columbus and taught kindergarten in Wooster, OH for seven years. Following a summer adventure to Mount Carmel Bible Camp in Minnesota with which she was closely involved up until her passing, she attended the Minneapolis Lutheran Bible Institute in 1960-61. This led to thirty years of teaching in a public school there and the remaining happy retirement years. Sylvia traveled to many interesting countries, enjoyed entertaining in two homes she loved and became an antique dealer which was a joy to her. At the close of her life she resided at Covenant Village, A Christian Retirement Community. Her Ohio connections have always remained important to her. Sylvia is survived by many dearly loved cousins and friends. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Lee Behnken will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 25 at the Arlington Cemetery, Brookville where Sylvia will be buried with her mother. Arrangements are in care of the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT ROAD, BROOKVILLE, OH 45309. It was Sylvia’s strong opinion that E-mail condolences are not formal enough and she would prefer that they not be offered.
