FOSTER, Theodore “Ted”

Age 72, of Brookville, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Peebles, Ohio on June 9, 1953 to his parents, Merle and Flora Foster. Ted was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean (John) McCarty and Tiny (Junior) Lewis, and brother, Bill Foster.

Ted was a graduate of Peebles High School and attended Ohio University. He went on to work at Woodland Altars in Peebles and Wilson’s Children’s Home in West Union. Ted worked at WRAC, the local radio station, through its name change to C103 in 1996 until 2010. During this time, he broadcast interviews and stories from many county fairs. After retirement, Ted narrated many Christmas and Easter programs at Brookville Church of the Brethren. He digitized tapes at the Brethren Heritage Center and chronicled the history of Peebles in his blog “Stories of Peebles” which you can view at www.storiesofpeebles.com. He had a love of music, trains, traveling, history, genealogy, photography, space station watching, and hat pin collecting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Charlene; sisters-in-law, Dodie Foster and Sharon Readington; numerous nephews and nieces; and many cherished friends. Thank you to the Brookville Rescue Squad, the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the James Cancer Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital, Miami Valley North, and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Ted during his illness. A special thanks to Erica Brown, for her care of Ted.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th at the Brookville Church of the Brethren. The second visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the church, followed by a celebration of life service. Interment services will be held at the convenience of the family.
